I was first introduced to Norman, Oklahoma’s Psychotic Reaction when they contributed their amazing song “Dying On The Vine” to our 2019 various artists collection A Fistful More Of Rock & Roll Volume 1. Soon after I went down the rabbit hole, checking out all their other stuff, and it quickly became apparent that these guys rarely do the same thing twice. I mean…it’s all Psychotic Reaction, but it’s all different. You never know what to expect, but you can expect Psychotic Reaction. And it’s all great!

That being said, Savage Magic was handed their 7th album. This record sounds nothing like anything they’ve done before. It’s definitely heavier. When I’ve attempted to describe this album, I’ve said it sounds like something that might have happened between Kyuss and QOTSA and with a slight occult vibe. That description is probably a good starting point, but you really have to hear it for yourself.
